Sicong Zhang, PhD

Bio: Sicong earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Fudan University in China, where he studied the role of TIMM17A in mitochondria ROS generation under the mentorship of Dr. Qian Shi. He then went to the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center / UT Health Houston for his PhD with Dr. Suyun Huang, where he identified the molecular determinants of brain tumor malignancy. His work was the first to establish the role of m6A mRNA methylation in tumor development. Following that, Sicong joined Dr. Robert Roeder’s lab at Rockefeller University as a postdoctoral fellow to study gene regulation by transcriptional cofactors in breast cancer. Sicong will be joining the NCI-designated cancer center, Fred & Palema Buffett Cancer Center at UNMC as a tenure-track Assistant Professor.
